The Nigeria Foundation for the Support of Victims of Terrorism (Victims Support Fund), in Partnership with the Borno State Government on 7th May 2016 flagged off the re-building of public structures in areas liberated from Boko Haram terrorists with the commencement of the renovation and rehabilitation of public structures in Dikwa town, Dikwa Local Government Area.
VSF in continuation of its drive to restore livelihood and administer support to victims of insurgency, has donated N250 million in materials and labour for the rebuilding and renovation of public buildings and social utilities destroyed during the occupation of the area by Boko Haram. The structures to be renovated are schools, hospitals, police barracks, boreholes and government offices which will primarily serve as temporary accommodation for the over 75,000 IDPs in Dikwa. This first phase of rebuilding the Northeast will facilitate the re-establishment of local governance and restoration of basic social amenities while creating an enabling environment for return and accelerated recovery.
VSF in the execution of its mandate and the implementation of its core programs continues to ensure targeted efforts to assess and meet the needs of the victims and provide services with a strong focus towards the enhancement of access to support. VSF promotes the support of victims with interventions that target affected communities, including those that remained in the community during insurgency and the returnee IDPs.
