Victims Support Fund (VSF), Abuja on 12th April 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna commissioning a research that focuses on critical perspectives of the Boko Haram Insurgency. The Research will be jointly conducted by the Centre for Defence Studies and Documentation of the NDA and VSF.

The study, titled ‘Insurgency and Counter-insurgency in Nigeria: Critical Perspectives on Boko Haram’ aims among others to critically examine the conceptual issues on insurgency and counter-insurgency; the origins and evolution of the Boko Haram insurgency; the local and international management of the Boko Haram insurgency; post-conflict peace building and the implications of Boko Haram insurgency for national security in Nigeria.

The research outcome will provide a more scientific understanding of the insurgency; greater national consensus and narrative of the insurgency; more evidence-based policy development and implementation framework; and a basis for more informed and efficient provision of national security.
