With the recent trend of attacks by herdsmen on communities in different parts of the country particularly in Benue State and the consequent creation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), a team from Victims Support Fund led by Dr. Sunday Ochoche Executive Director VSF and Mr. Sunday Oibe of the Presidential Committee on Victims Support Fund (CVSF) visited Agatu Benue State .

The purpose of the visit was to gather information on this emerging trend, hold stakeholder consultations and needs identification. This is to determine and elucidate the number of IDPs, the effect of displacement on people and their means of livelihood and the impact on education for school children.

At the Palace of the Ochi’Idoma where over 2000 IDPs are camped, the leader of the VSF Team Dr. Sunday Ochoche commiserated with the traditional ruler and his people for the attacks and explained that the visit was to identify key areas where VSF can intervene. In his response, the Ochi’Idoma HRH Agaba-Ibu Elias Ikoyi Obekpa while condemning the attacks on his people expressed gratitude for solidarity shown and voiced hope that relief would come immediately.
